The Old Jamestown School Archives (founded in 1986 and formerly the Jamestown Alumni Archives) mission is to preserve and promote the history of education in Jamestown and the surrounding areas.  Through the organization and exhibition of memorabilia the archives will become a beacon to all those who appreciated Guilfrod County School's unchanging past.  Artifacts and documents will be housed in the Jamestown Public Library through 1989, the year Greensboro and High Point City School systems merged to become a larger Guilford County School system.

Jamestown Public School

Jamestown Public School was the first accreditied rural high school in North Carolina.  The General Assembly of 1907 enacted a law for creation of public high schools in every county, the location to be determined by the environment most conducive to the current phase of education.  After careful consideration, Jamestown was designated as the place most suitable for one of these schools.
